Doretha Williams, Director, The Robert F. Smith Center for the Digitization and Curation of
African American History (Smith Center) at the National Museum of African American History
and Culture (NMAAHC) and Leah Jones, photographer, Smith Center, recently visited the
museum to package the Scurlock and Brown Studio photograph collections to be transported to
Washington to be evaluated and digitized for the James Solomon Russell-Saint Paul’s Museum
and Archives (JSR-SPC Museum and Archives). Helping with the process were museum board
members James Grimstead, Regina Gordon, NaStelle Graves and Bobby Conner. After
digitization, the photographs will be returned to the JSR-SPC Museum and Archives for display.
