Grand Opening, New Museum Location!

OUR NEW LOCATION

Greetings Alumni and Supporters
The James Solomon Russell-Saint Paul’s College Museum and Archives has had an exciting and successful operation since its opening just over a year ago.  We have successfully achieved all of the start-up requirements, especially obtaining the Federal 501(c)3 tax exempt status. We have sponsored several events including two open houses and private tours with our young people.  On each of the events the attendance resulted in great numbers from many areas of the country but mostly from the east coast.
The museum has initiated several new programs to benefit its visitors.  First, it has worked with the Library of Virginia, through Mrs. Becky Walker, of the Meherrin Regional Library in Lawrenceville, to digitize most of the Saint Paul’s College yearbooks.  Next we have entered into a working relationship with the Virginia History Trails Program to map out the more than 20 parishes established by James Solomon Russell during his lifetime from his birth place in Palmer Springs, VA, to St. Stephen’s Church in Petersburg, VA, where he was ordained to Lawrenceville, VA. where he built St. Paul’s School (later St. Paul’s College).
Our new website is now in operation and contains lots of information for every visitor and will allow everyone to become knowledgeable of the outstanding works of Dr. Russell and Saint Paul’s College.
The volume of archives the museum has is vast and the parking is very limited.  It’s a situation we have to rectify.  Thanks to the support of the Brunswick County Board of Supervisors, the JSR-SPC Museum and Archives will be moving to the Brunswick County Conference Center (Former SPC Student Union Building).  This new location will offer more exhibit space, banquet facilities and more parking space.  We will have to install the standard museum portable walls and the cost will be approximately $15,000- 20,000.  We have established a Capital Fund Campaign and several supporters have made contributions to bring us up to 30% of our goal.   All donors making a contribution of $100 or more will be listed on our Donors Plaque.  We are accepting and appreciate all donations.
Donations can be made by clicking to Donor Button or may be sent to:
P. O. Box 551,
Lawrenceville, VA 23868.
Your contribution is greatly appreciated.  PLEASE DONATE.  Thank you.
Sincerely,
James Grimstead
